THE GREAT TEXAS DRAGON RACE is a genre-blending MG novel of Texas rodeo Americana and contemporary fantasy. It’s JURASSIC WORLD meets TRUE GRIT—Texas-sized adventure in a diverse sports novel for people who hate sports. ABOUT THE BOOK

In a New Orleans swamp far, far away...

A writer was born.

Kacy Ritter spent her childhood moving around Western Europe with her oil-company dad and kooky book-loving mother. Surrounded by various art projects and rows of fantasy novels, her mother taught her about druids as her dad toted the family from castle to castle.

As they traveled from place to place, she consumed MG and YA book series while dreaming of dragons and building tiny homes for faeries in shoeboxes.

She landed in the Lone Star State at age 12, and later went on to pursue a B.F.A. at the University of Texas in Austin and a master's at the University of North Texas.

Today, Kacy Ritter resides in Houston, Texas where she writes SFF for children. Most of her friends are fictional characters. ABOUT ME
